A Very Special Thank You to Genentech!

This local pharmaceutical company, and long time Mission Vista supporter, has donated $4,000 to send a group of our students to the HOSA State Leadership Conference.

This year we began a HOSA Chapter at MVHS. HOSA is a national career technical student organization for future health professionals. HOSA offers our students leadership and professional development opportunities to develop their skills and interest in health care.

"I took 12 of our students to the HOSA State Leadership Conference in Anaheim this April. These students competed in a variety of events: health education lesson, extemporaneous writing, extemporaneous health poster, career health display, researched persuasive speaking and medical photography. Two of our students were finalists: Sage Hartwell - Healthcare Issues Exam (qualified for nationals) and Sarah Sandvold - researched persuasive speaking. I am so proud of all of them, they worked hard to prepare and learned a lot in the process. Throughout the conference they participated in workshops, leadership activities, general sessions, and volunteered in the courtesy corps. It was an amazing experience for us all. Thanks so much to Genentech for their generous support. The photo (left) is our chapter at the conference. They wore the HOSA uniform at all conference events. They looked amazing, and really represented MVHS well. "

Dara Rosen, HOSA Advisor.
